1. ChoosePick one that feels inviting
You do not need a new routine. One small walk with a purpose you like is plenty. Attach it to something you already do, like lunch or the mail.
2. PlayUse the noticing game
Each idea has a small game: count, spot, guess, listen. It gives your attention somewhere to rest. Drop it whenever the ground needs your full attention.
3. Check inAsk one question
"Was this amount manageable during the walk, later today, and tomorrow?" If yes, repeat it; more is optional. If not, use the smaller version. A missed day needs no catch-up.
A fictional exampleMeet June
June is not a real person. On a typical day her phone counts about 1,500 steps. She would like more, but a jump to 4,000 feels like a lot, so she picks a halfway bridge number of about 2,750.
She chooses three small walks she actually likes: the Coffee loop, the Mailbox moment and an After-lunch loop. Together they add roughly 450 to 1,500 steps, so on a fuller day they carry her most of the way to her bridge. She repeats the same three for a week, notes how she feels the next day, then chooses: more, the same, or less.
If a day goes sideways, she uses the smaller version or rests. No catch-up steps.
